Bank Account

It’s easy getting a bank account at a Spanish bank. It’s a very good idea to do that in order to avoid your home bank’s commission fees. You have to show up with your passport and often are required to put a certain amount of money on the account. If the bank employee is not willing to open your account without a NIE (spanish residence card), then just go to the next bank or to another branch of the same bank. Apply for a debit card that you can use at the ATM terminals. Keep in mind that there are two types of terminals – ServiRed and Telebanco. Use the one of your bank, otherwise you have to pay commission fees. (Within the ServiRed system you have to pay a small fee of 0,60 Euros if you go to a different bank than your own).
